The Cath Lab Relocation at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster, Alabama involved renovating space on the second floor to provide three (3) new cath lab units. The result created a more efficient functional layout, with identical procedure rooms side by side, along with an adjacent prep/recovery area.

 

The prep/recovery area provides ten (10) bays, with four (4) family rooms for increased privacy and family interaction. All support is clustered around a central nurse’s station, and the entire unit can be secured at day’s end for security. A fourth room was included as shell space for a future Cath Lab procedure room. Since completion of the project, the Hospital had TRO JB covert the shell space to an Ep Lab, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
